Latvijas Finieris Implements Stretch Foil Wrapping at Lignums Mill

24.03.2025

Latvijas Finieris has introduced stretch foil wrapping at the Lignums Mill, making it the third mill with this packaging type capability. This step reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability and efficient workflow, supporting the circular economy and EU environmental directives.

The stretch foil used is made from recycled materials and can be recycled again. It enhances Riga Wood birch plywood product protection against moisture, dust and dirt, optimising storage and the efficiency of workforce and transportation.

Key Benefits of Stretch Foil Wrapping

  • Load Stability and Security
Stretch foil ensures that products remain securely packed, minimising movement during transportation. This reduces the risk of damage, breakage and product loss.
  • Cost Efficiency
Compared to alternative packaging methods, stretch foil uses less material while providing effective load containment and lowers labour costs.
  • Protection Against Environmental Factors
Stretch foil protects goods from dust, dirt, and moisture, ensuring the plywood remains in optimal condition during storage and transit.
  • Warehouse and Logistics Efficiency
Wrapped pallets are easy to handle, stack and transport.
  • Sustainability and Waste Reduction
The stretch film used is a recyclable and eco-friendly option, helping to reduce the environmental footprint while maintaining high packaging standards.

By integrating stretch foil wrapping, Latvijas Finieris enhances efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness, further strengthening its commitment to responsible packaging solutions.

The stretch foil wrapping has been implemented at the Kohila, Furniers, and Lignums mills.
