Zābaki Farm Wooden Building Complex – Latvia’s Best Wooden Building 2025
11.09.2026
At the awards ceremony for the “Latvia’s Building of the Year 2025” competition, the wooden building complex and seedling cold store at Latvijas Finieris’ Zābaki Farm were recognised as the best wooden building in Latvia.
In the “Wooden Building” category, our wooden building complex took first place, whilst second place went to the project to replace the roof of Krustpils Church.
The construction of the Zābaki wooden building complex demonstrates our long-term commitment to developing birch cultivation technologies, thereby promoting modern forestry, greater CO₂ sequestration, and the growth of the bioeconomy in Latvia. This award is a significant recognition by the industry of the entire team’s achievements and, at the same time, a testament to wood as a sustainable and modern building material.
The jury shortlisted 40 buildings for the final, whilst a total of 74 buildings completed last year were selected for the second round. Of these, 68 are located in Latvia, with the other six projects carried out by Latvian construction companies abroad.
The “Latvia’s Building of the Year” competition was organised for the 28th year by the Latvian Builders’ Association and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers, in cooperation with Ceresit, 17 industry organisations, the State Construction Control Bureau, SJSC State Real Estate, the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments, Riga Technical University, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Riga Construction College, and the RISEBA Faculty of Architecture and Design.
