VEREMS Mill Receives the State Environmental Service’s Green Excellence Award 2026

On 5 June 2026, the State Environmental Service (SES) held a ceremony to honour the winners of the annual Green Excellence environmental award. The award in the category “Green Excellence in Agriculture, Forestry and Wood Processing” was presented to Latvijas Finieris’ company VEREMS.
The award recognises sustainable and innovative development in wood processing through the introduction of energy-efficient technologies, circular economy principles and the ISO 50001 energy management system, while also promoting the use of renewable resources and reducing emissions.
Andris Ķēniņš, Director General of the SES, stressed that sustainability has become an essential prerequisite for business development and public trust. Green Excellence winners show that it is possible to reduce environmental impact and still build a successful and sustainable business.
VEREMS focuses on targeted improvements in resource and energy efficiency as well as responsible use of natural resources. The company consistently implements solutions that reduce its environmental impact while strengthening its production capabilities.

The SES has been presenting the Green Excellence Award since 2015 to highlight companies and partners whose work supports environmental protection, sustainable development and responsible business practices.
It should be noted that VEREMS has also received recognition from the SES in previous years.
