Information available to the European Commission indicates changes in trade patterns following the introduction of the original anti-dumping measures. The Commission has concluded that there is sufficient evidence to investigate further whether the existing measures are being circumvented in this way.

Representatives of the European hardwood plywood industry have previously raised concerns about the possible circumvention of anti-dumping measures, which is also reflected in changes in EU import statistics. Latvijas Finieris has confidence in a thorough and competent investigation by the European Commission, taking the facts and information provided by all parties involved into account, and is ready to cooperate with the authorities conducting the investigation.

Fair competition is not only about compliance with anti-dumping measures and sanctions. It is equally important to ensure that products entering the EU market comply with applicable quality, safety, and environmental requirements, and that end users are not misled about a product’s characteristics or origin.
