Latvijas Finieris and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences join forces for the development of robotics and mechatronics education

On 22 January 2025, Latvijas Finieris and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) signed a cooperation agreement. The Company and the University plan to cooperate in the theoretical and practical training of specialists, develop joint research projects and an innovative study environment, provide work-based education and internships for students, as well as knowledge transfer between academia and industry, highlighting joint activities for the development of mechatronics, robotics and automation education, as well as the use of wood in construction.

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences sees a wide range of opportunities in this cooperation for the professional development of students, the development of robotics and automation studies, as well as other projects based on the needs of the industry and the company. In addition, the activities of Latvijas Finieris in promoting the use of wood in construction are in line with the projects of the New Construction School of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences.

The areas covered by the cooperation agreement also include knowledge exchange between Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences faculty members and industry professionals.
It should be noted that in order to ensure the development of Latvijas Finieris, one of the strategically important directions is the increasingly close cooperation with scientific institutions and educational institutions. The company is already successfully cooperating with universities such as Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Riga Technical University un University of Latvia, as well as the Art Academy of Latvia, and is establishing relations with other universities in Latvia and neighbouring countries.
