Appreciating the achievements in the construction of buildings and development of production facilities and business, in the nomination Regional Investment in Construction 2024, AS Latvijas Finieris received an award along with two other entrepreneurs for the veneer production facility Kuldīgas fabrika, which was opened last year.

This award category was open to companies whose buildings were commissioned in 2024 with the highest financial contribution to the territory of the Municipality and a significant contribution to the development of their business environment.

In line with its ongoing development strategy and investments in expanding production capacity, Latvijas Finieris opened the new veneer production facility Kuldīgas fabrika in Kuldīga on 14 June 2024. The technology used in this facility is unique in Latvia, enabling the maximum possible veneer yield to be obtained from each birch log.

With its unique equipment, the facility is a significant turning point not only in wood processing but also in forestry work planning.

The world’s first, custom-made machine for Latvijas Finieris — a hybrid peeling machine — allows us to experiment with smaller-diameter log varieties, which were previously mainly exported or processed into lower-value products.
