Heavy commercial transport
Riga Wood birch plywood is widely used in cargo compartment floors, side panels, and other structural applications where durability, strength, and impact resistance are essential.
For demanding flooring applications, panels can be coated with hard-wearing films featuring anti-slip and wear-resistant surfaces. These coatings help protect the plywood from mechanical damage, abrasion, moisture, and commonly used chemicals, ensuring reliable performance throughout the vehicle’s service life.
With excellent strength-to-weight properties and a wide range of machining options, Riga Wood birch plywood provides a durable and efficient solution for commercial vehicles, trailers, and specialised transport applications.

Customised Birch Plywood Solutions for Trailer Manufacturers
Riga Wood birch plywood is engineered for demanding heavy commercial transport applications, delivering strength, durability, and flexibility for trailer manufacturers.
We offer customised solutions to match your production requirements, including:
- Cut-to-size panels and special constructions
- Various film types, anti-slip patterns, and colour options
- Fully machined components with drilling, milling, edge sealing, and tongue-and-groove or half-lap joints
- Ready-to-install trailer component kits
- Just-in-Time (JIT) and Just-in-Sequence (JIS) deliveries
- Local buffer stock
Heavy Trailers
High-strength birch plywood is suitable for trailer floors, side panels, and other structural components exposed to heavy loads, impact, and continuous wear.
Reefer Trailers
Birch plywood offers excellent bending strength and reliable performance at low temperatures. It is commonly used in insulated sandwich panels for floor and wall systems, where it contributes to the strength, stability, and durability of the structure.
Truck Box Bodies
Riga Wood birch plywood can be used in floors, walls, partitions, and other components of truck box bodies, providing a durable surface that withstands demanding everyday use.
Swap Body Floors
Hard-wearing, film-faced birch plywood provides a durable flooring solution for swap bodies used in both road and rail transport. Anti-slip surfaces improve safety, while high wear resistance ensures reliable long-term performance.
Quality & Performance Testing
Riga Wood transport panels undergo rigorous testing to ensure consistent performance, durability, and safety in demanding transport applications.
- Slip resistance – Tested to verify reliable anti-slip performance for safer loading and unloading operations.
- Rolling wear test (EN 1818) – Performed with a 300 kg load for up to 9,000 cycles, depending on the coating, to simulate long-term service conditions and evaluate surface durability.
- Taber abrasion test (EN 438-2) – Conducted for up to 10,000 revolutions, depending on the coating, to measure the wear resistance of the surface and ensure long-lasting performance.
- Bending strength and stiffness (EN 310) – A plywood test piece is placed horizontally on two supports, and a controlled load is applied from above at the centre of the panel. The load is gradually increased while the deflection of the plywood is measured.
These tests help guarantee that Riga Wood birch plywood delivers consistent quality, durability, and long service life, even in the most demanding transport applications.
