“The turnover of the Group’s Chemical Plant this year will exceed 18 million euros – we are a relatively large producer of chemical products in Latvia. In addition, as part of the company’s long-term strategy, we are currently in an active phase of chemical product production processes and development.”

Māris Būmanis, Member of the Executive Board of Latvijas Finieris.

“Most of the plywood gluing resin recipes we use are developed at Latvijas Finieris; We are constantly developing them. We produce impregnated paper for plywood overlaying and develop advanced impregnation solutions. In recent years, we have become more and more active in the research and development of chemical processing of wood side stream products. A clear example of this is the establishment of a birch bark chopping production site and an industrial betulin extraction laboratory, which will also provide a basis for further research into the potential extraction of other extracts.”

Māris Būmanis admits that membership in the association opens the door to closer cooperation and exchange of information with other companies in the chemical industry, will help to participate in the training of new specialists, as well as obtain direct information on upcoming changes in both state legislation and international industry documents. In addition, given the Association of the Latvian Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry membership in European-level organizations, the members of the association have the opportunity to follow global trends, which are especially important in today’s changing world.
