Stand with Ukraine!
Starting from March 1, Latvijas Finieris and RSEZ SIA “VEREMS” will donate 5 euros for the support of the Ukrainian people for every cubic meter of birch veneer logs purchased in Latvia and later processed into valuable export products. In this way, together with our partners in the forest sector, we can provide long-term, continuous support to the Ukrainian people in the fights for their people, their land, their freedom and independence, and for the values, security and peace of Europe and the Western world.
We are convinced that in this extremely tense situation, the main task of local companies, including Latvijas Finieris, is to continue working, to provide stable jobs for the local people, to produce high value-added export products and to generate tax revenue for the state. We can help only if we are strong. Therefore, for each log that is currently harvested in Latvia's forests, we must add as much value as possible on the spot. It would be unfortunate if, in these circumstances, the raw domestic resources were transported outside our country. Land management, sustainable use of local resources and local processing industry have been the backbone of Latvia’s economy throughout the years of independence. Also now this is and will be the basis of our stability.
For the time being, the support system applies to the supply of logs from absolutely all cooperation partners in Latvia – state forests, private forest owners, logging companies and other log market participants. At a later stage, the aid scheme could be extended to the supply of veneer logs in Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, but this will require longer evaluation and preparation time.
Taking into account the Latvijas Finieris Group's production volume, the amount allocated to support Ukraine in March could reach approximately 250 thousand euros. In addition, other support mechanisms will certainly be sought within the company. Information on the amount of donations will be published regularly on our website.
