Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status is granted to Latvijas Finieris

27. june, 2016

AEO status is an internationally recognised quality mark indicating that the company’s role in the international supply chain is secure, and that customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.

Latvijas Finieris is the first producer in Latvia that has been granted AEO certificate.
The certificate consists of two parts – 1) customs simplification (AEOC) and 2) security and safety (AEOS). Latvijas Finieris has a combination of the two.

To obtain the certificate the compliance to the following criteria has been audited for two years: compliance with customs legislation and taxation rules, proven practical standards of competence or professional qualifications, appropriate security and safety measures.

The AEO status granted by one Member State is recognised by the customs authorities in all Member States

AEO benefits: fewer physical and document-based controls, priority treatment if selected for control, possibility to request a specific place for customs controls, recognition as a secure and safe business partner, improved customer service.
This process is on-going. Company’s responsibility for security and process control has increased, and the criteria must be continued to meet also in the future.
